Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes to Write Unique Music for New Broadway Play Job


Blood Orange musician Devonté Hynes has joined the artistic staff of Job. He’ll compose unique music for the play, which set to open at Broadway’s Hayes Theater in July.

“Anybody aware of Dev’s work already is aware of what a naturally good storyteller he’s, so it’s no shock that his work on Job not solely enriches the thematic and narrative threads but additionally deepens the emotional resonance of the play,” one of many present’s producers, Hannah Getts, stated in a press assertion. “We’re thrilled to combine his revolutionary musical imaginative and prescient into the material of Job.”

Max Wolf Friedlich wrote Job, and Michael Herwitz is the play’s director. It stars Peter Friedman and Sydney Lemmon. Job premiered premiered Off Broadway in 2023, and the brand new Broadway performances start on July 15. The present formally opens on July 30 and can run for a restricted engagement by September 29.

Hynes launched his most up-to-date Blood Orange studio album, Negro Swan, in 2018.
