“At any time when I Name You ‘Good friend’” is a duet with Stevie Nicks, who, although credited on the album observe, is just not credited on the only, making “At any time when I Name You ‘Good friend’,” in impact, Loggins’s first main solo hit.
Melissa Manchester would say of her one-off songwriting collaboration with Kenny Loggins: “It got here out of the oddity of the instances – he and I saved working into one another at televised award reveals, which have been pretty new…We have been continuously paired as much as current awards collectively. Manchester would report her personal model of the track for her 1979 self-titled album in a duet model with Arnold McCuller: Charles Donovan of AllMusic mentioned Manchester’s model was a “way more supple, elegant track” than the Loggins-Nicks duet. In 2012 Manchester, commenting on the absence of her model of “At any time when I Name You Good friend” from her retrospective launch Playlist: The Very Better of Melissa Manchester, acknowledged: “The explanation that it’s not [included] is as a result of I don’t really feel that I’ve a passable model of the track…Kenny and I’ve not been in a position to schedule time to report it collectively, although we might each prefer to. We virtually bought collectively however our schedules simply wouldn’t enable it. However the universe goes to create a greater time for us to do this.”
