What’s the present about?
SOMETHING ROTTEN! initially opened on Broadway on the St. James Theatre in 2015 and obtained a number of Finest Musical nominations, 10 Tony Award nominations and was hailed by Time Out New York as “the funniest musical comedy in a minimum of 400 years”.
It’s the 1590s and brothers Nigel and Nick Backside are uninterested in being caught within the shadow of Shakespeare, the Renaissance Rockstar, and are determined to beat the Bard as soon as and for all. However how? With the assistance of a prophet, the lesser-known Nostradamus, the brothers set about writing the world’s first musical – a ridiculous notion the place the actors simply burst into track. Out of nowhere! And so they dance too. For no motive! Absurd.
