Tune Exploder – Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips take aside the tune “Do You Understand??”

“Do You Understand??”

The Flaming Lips shaped in Oklahoma Metropolis in 1983. Over the past 4 many years, they’ve put out 16 albums. In 1999, they put out their album The Delicate Bulletin, and that introduced them a brand new degree of success. After which, in 2002, they adopted it up with Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, which was their greatest album thus far. Pitchfork named it one of many high 5 albums of the 12 months, Stereogum known as it among the best albums of the last decade, and so they received a Grammy. And the largest tune from the album was “Do You Understand??” So, for this episode, I talked to Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd about how that tune was first imagined. You’ll hear the very first demo Wayne recorded for the tune, and the demo he and Steven put collectively later, on their option to making the ultimate model with producer Dave Fridmann.
